Tram

Travelling from the airport by trams is easy due to frequent and speedy services to the city center. The end-to-end journey in a team takes only 30 minutes with departures taking place every 15 minutes from 06:07 to 22:48.

4. Airport taxi

The Edinburgh airport is a mere 25-minute drive from the city center. If you are exiting from the airport's arrival Terminal, there will be a Taxi airports New East Terminus situated in front of the plaza from the main terminal.

Dropping off and picking up

Arrange for your taxi to meet you at the Multistory car park's Pick-up zone on the ground floor. Passengers coming in taxis can be dropped in either the drop-off zone in the long Stay car park or the drop-off zone opposite the terminal. The free drop-off area is adjacent to the Long Stay car park and requires you to take the free shuttle bus to the terminal. The shuttle bus is a frequent service and only takes 5 minutes.

5. Uber ride

7. Travelling to Glasgow & Glasgow to Edinburgh

Travelling is allowed throughout Scotland and to Wales, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. After the COVID19 outbreak, travel is restricted to those areas that are in Level 3 or Level 4 and certain parts of England from 24 May. Refer the Travel Section below for more details on international travel restrictions between Scotland and other countries. These rules are subject to change depending on the COVID situation in Scotland and other countries, so check back before you travel.

Glasgow City Local authority is in Level 3, whereas Mainland Scotland and certain islands are in Level 2. Orkney, Shetland, Na h-Eileanan Siar, Islands in Argyll (Coll, Colonsay, Erraid, Gometra, Iona, Islay, Jura, Mull, Oronsay, Tiree and Ulva ) and all islands in Highland (except Skye) are at Level 1. You are allowed to travel within all of Scotland except Glasgow. Overnight stays with friends or family is permitted as long as it adheres to the indoor gathering rules. Its a must to adhere to the COVID restrictions laid out for indoor, outdoor gatherings and tourist accommodation.

If you are in Levels 0,1 and 2 you are restricted from travelling to Level 3 or Level 4 areas unless for an approved reason. If you are in Level 3 or 4, you are not allowed to travel out of your area unless for a permitted reason. If you are permanently residing in Glasgow City and were outside of your home authority (example, on a holiday) when the Level 3 restrictions were imposed, you should return back as soon as your stay is over. Similarly, individuals who are not residing in Glasgow but are currently in the area for non-permitted reasons are expected to leave the area as soon as possible. If doing so, utmost care should be taken to minimise contact with others especially if travelling by public transport (see section below).
